Today’s spotlight is on Pilot Point TX, where just shy of 1000 homeowners are served by Open Infra’s fiber network.
A 3.4 square mile town in North Texas’s horse country, Pilot Point is a historical Texas Main Street City that dates back two years before Denton County was formed.
The early settlement, which is the county’s oldest, took shape in 1845 when settlers from Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri began building homes around the then-called “Pilot’s Point” in Cross Timbers. Those who migrated to the area were attracted by its abundant timber and fertile plains for farming and livestock, as well as nearby Dripping Springs as a source of freshwater and camping grounds.
Located on an oak-covered hill with a cottonwood tree that initially served as a Native American landmark, Pilot Point’s picturesque city square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and boasts tons of cultural attractions.
